Malabon Food Trip
Good
food and good company are the best combination in life. Sad to say some of our
friends decided to ditch us on the day we planned to fill our tummies with food
and laughter.
I
hope this entry will fill your cravings. =)
Known
as “Little Maginhawa” General Luna St. is a promising food haven for all. We
passed by almost half a dozen café and food shops ranging from posh to plain
stalls.
Who
would go to Malabon and not eat their claim to fame “Pansit Malabon” right?
I
don’t know if it just the lighting but that plate is picture perfect and the
taste is as good. Topped with generous seafood and veggies, you can’t help but
to savor all in one bite.
FYI for non-native:
Pansit Malabon is a yellow-orange colored noodle dish made with patis (fish sauce) and crab fat. Usually topped with meat, seafood and egg.
Mflores version of sisig is non-sizzling type. The flawless mayo-mixed sauce brought all the ingredients together. Watch out though, it was insanely delicious that I didn’t realize that it was spicy. By the time we finished ¾ of it my lips are starting to burn. T_T.
Cocina Luna
Perfect for friends’ gather place- with cozy, hip and trendy interiors plus subtle background music is a sure to win millennials’ hearts.
Pulled Pork Burgers 159
Seasoned with BBQ sauce, these three-piece dinner bun is a success. It has bacon, cheese and onion rings, a combination that will never go wrong.
As
much as I want to order more from their 2-page menu, I was reminded that our
food crawl is far from over so I have to settle with “I can order you next
time” feel.
As
per my friend, the restroom was really nice with stylish reminder on etiquette.
Bambinellie’s
Concepcion
offers a lot of cafés, what strikes this place the most is its happy well-lit
interior.
They
offer a lot in their menu from simple main dishes to overgenerous desserts.
I
actually forgot the names of our dessert orders.
So
these are our orders:
The
Waffle type dessert consists of kisses, chocolate coated candies, multi-colored
sprinkles and Ferrero on top drizzled with generous chocolate syrup. I hope you’ve
checked your sugar level coz this one is killer! =)
The
Drink
This
colorful drink is a toothache in a jar. Make sure you had your dentist’s
appointment after this.
It
comprises of choco candies, brownie, wafer, all-time kid snack iced gems and
that sweetmeat hard candy at the back that screams pretty and deadly.
We
really wanted to try their main dishes but my belly is shrieking stop… =)
Zoey’s
We
did not try their burgers and opted to try their Zoey’s Spicy Sausage.
I’ll
give it an OK rating. It was not that spicy, I was imagining teary-eyed,
numb-tongue, and who am I taste experience but I was somewhat disappointed that
it wasn’t fiery. You might to try it, maybe we just have different spiciness
gauge right?
Cups
N Cones
To
end our day right, we opted for a café near Zoey’s.
Our
orders:
Salmon
Salad 220 Php
One
of the most memorable food we had eaten, savory and non-fishy, tasty and
healthy. The fish is cooked right and the lettuce, cherry tomatoes and cheese
are the right amount.
Baked
Mac 160 Php
Not
exceptional. I suggest trying something else.
Frozen Calamansi 60 Php
Only took a sip since it’s not my order to begin with, I liked their version of calamansi juice since the sweetness and tanginess is well balanced and preserved.
Caramel Macchiato 100 Php
Perfect
ending for my belly-full.
