HekaOnechan

Mega Buffet & Shabu-Shabu Osake Japanese Restaurant

Adding this buffet house to our long list of tried and crossing it out to our pending to be reviewed eat-outs…

The place also offers ala carte dishes so if you’re not into the unli meat, you can try checking out their menu.

The Banchan/ Side Dishes:

Kimchi – the most basic of all Korean restaurants, napa cabbage kimchi. This traditional fermented side dish tastes better as it grows older. The ones that they serve are practically not well fermented which is usually the case on all unlimited K-restaurants.

Marbled Potato – it might look like a soy-based dish but this is actually sweetened potato much more like our version of Kamote-Q .

Haemul Pajeon – well, haemul literally means seafood but the ones they have are all veggies mixed in it. There might be some pieces of octopus there somewhere but it did not land on my chosen pieces.

Veggie Fritters – it consists of green peppers and carrots fried it their mixed batter.

Odeng Au Bokum -  I was looking for the fish cake but it was nowhere to be found. I’m rationally thinking that maybe the label got mixed up since all I see is tofu in there. Don’t be misled I like this side the most, it’s just that the label is wrong.

Cold cucumbers -  not a fan of cucumbers so did not try it, but looks so refreshing as it has ice on it.

Beef bulgogi -  I did not have a pic of this since it was all gone by the time I went back for seconds now talk about tasty.

Japchae - not a fan of this noodle dish so I pass through it.

Kimchi Fried Rice - its your typical fried rice using the kimchi sauce as its base and color. White Rice is also available on the side served in a large rice cooker.

Mixed Salad – it is a mixed greens and the sauce is on its side if you choose to have it.

Seawood soup is also available along with some kimbap. Lettuce and the sauce are all available in the buffet. I would like it better if the bean paste is saltier but it’s just me.

For desserts, they serve unlimited Jelly and fruits and if that is not enough you can buy ice cream ala carte near the counter.

As for the unli beef and pork, I want my samgyupsal(pork) 1 cm. thicker and my woosamgyup(beef) paper thin. They serve the pork and beef slices almost the same and identical to each other although you will figure it out since beef tends to have redder color than pork.

**The very downside of this place is you can see baby roaches here and there. My sister found one on her sit, I saw one on the walls and my sister-in-law picked one on her sauce.
